This version is written in simplified Chinese and translates literally to “Black lives are treasures/precious.”
The idea behind the design of this image is based on history, culture, and the future. The panther, of course based on the legacy of the Black Panthers, steps forward confidently. With each step, plant life begins to flourish, and behind the panther is a thriving forest, meant to represent what the Black community has been, is, and will be.
There are two versions in English and simplified Chinese--the Chinese is meant to address the Chinese community that we are not removed from these injustices, and we need to examine and correct where we stand as NBPOC.
