FROG STAN PRINT, 2023
Made for printmaking! Will it turn out ok? It’s fine, but solar plates are tricky! I’m not done with this one yet (1st picture is the drawing, 2nd picture is the print)
This illustration was a fun combination to put together: love a good rock, love frogs, and I love the mystery of the burbling water (in that order). I like the idea that this is a love letter to the humid summer nights when the sky is loud of insects chittering. Featuring: the clover looper moth, the northern leopard frog, and lightning bugs.
福 - symbol for luck and prosperity! Seen on lucky cats, and 福字 decorations
雨過天晴 - literally: “the sky clears after the rain”
呱呱 - ribbit ribbit (pronounced guagua)
